The Associate in Arts for Transfer degree in Spanish (AA-T) provides students with the foundational knowledge of the language for a successful transition into a baccalaureate degree at a CSU campus. The Spanish AA-T offers beginning to advanced level courses designed to develop students’ listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing skills through the study of language, literature, civilizations, cultures, and historical events of the Spanish-speaking world. Appreciation and understanding of cultural diversity and communication skills that facilitate the exchange of ideas and transactions vital to social and global connectivity, are acquired through the study of the Spanish language.


Program Level Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

✓ Translate spoken messages in Spanish.

✓ Use vocabulary and grammar to communicate orally in Spanish.

✓ Interpret literature written in Spanish.

✓ Compose writing in Spanish.

Associate Degrees for Transfer require students to meet the following requirements:

✓ Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of degree-applicable courses,

✓ Minimum overall grade point average of 2.0,

✓ Minimum grade of “C” (or “P”) for each course in the major, and

✓ Completion of IGETC and/or CSU GE-Breadth.
