These courses emphasize the perspective, concepts, theories and methodologies of the disciplines typically found in the vast variety of disciplines that comprise study in the Social and Behavioral Sciences. Students will study about themselves and others as members of a larger society. Topics and discussions to stimulate critical thinking about ways people have acted in response to their societies will allow students to evaluate how societies and social subgroups operate. This emphasis may be of interest to those planning to pursue careers in anthropology, child development, criminal justice, ethnic studies, government service, law, history, marriage and family therapy, political science, psychology, social work, sociology, teaching, and urban planning. Note: Although a course may be listed in more than one area of emphasis of the Liberal Arts degree, it may only be used to meet a requirement for a single emphasis.
