Cosmetology (Course)

This course develops the skills needed to take and pass the cosmetology license examination.  Instruction includes state regulations and basic chemistry, electricity, bacteriology, anatomy, and physiology in cosmetology as well as health, safety, and sanitation issues.  It focuses on wet and thermal hair styling; permanent waving; chemical straightening; haircutting, hair coloring, and bleaching; manual, electrical, and chemical facials; eyebrow arching and hair removal; makeup, lash and brow tinting, and false eyelashes, and natural and artificial nails techniques.


Free for Eligible persons: Unemployed, Veteran, Home Deprived, Single Mothers looking to work, Justice-Involved. Eligible people may receive help not only with training costs; but also with transportation, child care, and tools required for the job. You will need to contact your local AJCC to become eligible.


Prerequisites

Math and reading level of 6.0.  TABE 9/10.  Must be at least 16 years of age.
