Dressmaking-Alterations Certificate (Certificate)

The Dressmaking-Alterations Certificate prepares students for entry-level employment as a professional in the fields of dressmaker, garment construction, fit and alterations specialist. These courses will prepare the student to be able to alter and fit different body types related to clothing. The program requires the student to complete 35 units of required courses.


Program Student Learning Outcomes:

🗸 Demonstrate appropriate alterations and fitting techniques to solve fitting issues/problems in clothing.

🗸 Assess and apply skills to alter and fit a commercial sewing pattern to a customer's body measurements.

🗸 Create an individual muslin fitting garment by using pattern blocks to analyze the fit on a customer.
